To work with IMatch, first create a database and then add images or folders to it. If you have added all your images to the database, you can match images with the 'File Match' or 'Color Match' feature.
Use the right mouse button to get direct access to context-sensitive menus in the result window and the database browser.
You can select multiple images by using the <Ctrl> or <Shift> keys together with the left mouse button.
You can get help for every dialog by pressing <F1>.You may also click on the blue help button at the bottom of the IMatch window.
Just move the mouse over a button or control element to display a short description of the control.
You can manage any number of databases with IMatch. You may create for example one database for each of your Clipart CD-ROM's and one database for the images on your hard disk.
IMatch supports drag and drop for the result window and the database browser. Just drag the selected images from IMatch to your favourite imaging application.
You can add or match images via drag and drop. Click on the 'Scan' tab or the 'Match' tab and drop your images directly on to the window.
The database browser allows you to view all images in your current database. You can also perform file operations from here. Copy, move or delete image files, remove orphaned images from the database and more.
The result of a match operation is displayed in the Result Window. From here you can perform other matches (drill down). You may also perform file operations like copy, move or delete.
The match history contains the last ten matches peformed. You can access the history at any time with the history button at the bottom of the IMatch window or from the Result Window toolbar.
Most of the commands available through menus or toolbars also have shortcuts. Have a look at the menus to see the associated keyboard shortcuts.
To find duplicate images (wheter resized, cropped or otherwise manipulated), use the Duplicate Finder match method.
The Color Similarity match method finds all images with similar colors.
The Fuzzy and Quick match methods find similar images in color and shape
Use the color similarity feature to find images with specific color distributions
To speed up the matching, use lower values for the 'Max. Distance' control and perhaps also check "Consider Orientation"
When you move or copy files in the result window or the database browser, these files are updated automatically in the database
Use the image viewer (Quick View) to view your images without launching an external application. Press ESC to close the image viewer window
Use the 'bookmark' feature to save image links for later review or matching
You can further enhance your match precision by using the 'Pre-Processing' option in the [File Match] tab
You can view your 'match history' at any time by clicking on the match history button at the bottom of the IMatch main window
You can open the bookmark window at any time by clicking on the bookmark button at the bottom of the IMatch main window
Use the "Fuzzy Filename" match method to recreate series from images spread all over your hard disks
